On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2020, volunteers with the 6:8 Project worked on several things. Volunteers included several from the neighborhood and several from Tarrant Churches Together. They fixed a hole in a ceiling, fixed a ceiling fan, and refurbished the handrail for a wheelchair ramp at one house.
At another house, volunteers scraped off old paint, caulked, and replaced trim. At another house, volunteers replaced the rotten wood on a door jamb and trim with hardiplank. Two toilets were fixed. At the 6:8 house at 1912 Portland, volunteers laid out, dug, and poured concrete to establish footings that will be used to build a deck in the back yard. This deck is needed, because the summer lunch program and other programs of the 6:8 Project have grown so much that we need the extra space for tables and chairs. Also, kids from the neighborhood helped by screening compost, by organizing the library and closets in the 6:8 house, and by breaking down boxes for recycling.
